Vidicta does not require an account. The extension processes caption text locally in your browser and stores your learning preferences using Chrome storage. We do not sell personal information.
Information Vidicta handles
Caption text
When Learning Mode is active on a supported YouTube video, Vidicta reads available English caption text to create the exercise shown on the page. This processing happens locally in your browser and the caption text is not sent to Vidicta servers.
Extension preferences
Settings such as automatic pausing and your preferred passing score are saved in Chrome storage so they remain available between sessions.
Information we do not collect
- No Vidicta account or profile
- No browsing-history database
- No sale or advertising use of personal information
- No microphone recordings
- No payment information
Permissions
Vidicta requests only the browser access necessary to provide its stated learning functionality and save preferences. Permission descriptions in the Chrome Web Store listing will remain consistent with this policy.
The website and audio preview
The landing-page exercise can use your browser’s built-in speech synthesis to demonstrate sentence playback. The website does not request microphone access. Core visual assets are hosted with the website rather than loaded from third-party image services.
Data retention and deletion
Extension preferences remain in Chrome storage until you change them, clear extension data, or uninstall Vidicta. Because caption exercises are processed locally and are not stored by Vidicta, there is no server-side exercise history to delete.
Children’s privacy
Vidicta is a general learning tool and is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children. Since the extension does not require an account, it does not ask users to provide an age or profile information.
Changes to this policy
If Vidicta’s data practices change, this policy and the Chrome Web Store privacy disclosures will be updated before the new practices take effect.
